Sagaba Konate is one of the premier defenders in the country. At the combine measured well with a 7ft wingspan, 8'10.5" standing reach, and 7.35% body fat. He's improving on the offensive end with his strength, explosiveness, and athleticism. He has good reaction time which will translate to the next level. Last season, he averaged a shade under eight rebounds per game (2.6 off rebs). He measured at 6'7.5" at the combine but still has the ability to rebound in traffic and out of his area.
As a shot blocker, he's most effective coming from the weak side. His reaction time allows him to get off floor quicker than most guys his size. In addition, he keeps his blocks in play, potentially creating a transition opportunities. As a rim protector, he always perimeter players to gamble more and press up on ball handlers/shooters.
On the offensive end he still has a way to go, but has showed flashes of his potential. He finishes well around the rim, usually trying to dunk everything. On a number of occasions he's showed the ability to face up and knockdown the 12ft jumpers. If he continues to knockdown jump shots consistently from 12-15ft he'll draw more attention from scouts. I would like to see him develop a go to move from the post, but this will come in time.
