I had the opportunity to watch Ty Jerome in person on a number of occasions last season. I was very impressed with his ability to stay poised during pressure situations. He's a very skilled guard with a high basketball IQ. Ty also has good size (6'5") for his position. Even though he lacks foot speed and athleticism, he still manages to be effective. Before diving into his offensive skill set I'd like to mention how impressed I was with this ability to play team defense. He plays the Pack Line defense well from the point position and does a great job of helping his teammates. On the offensive end, his shooting is his biggest attribute. He shoots the well ball from deep. Although some of his shot attempts are questionable, he'll make a few to level off your concern. He doesn't need a lot space to get his shot off even though he doesn't get much lift. His release is fluid and high. He has a good feel of the game in the half court and in transition, he makes the right play often. His ability to penetrate shouldn't be underestimated, he uses a variety of floaters in order to finish over defenders. Ty made a huge leap from freshman to sophomore year, but I believe this year will be even better for the All ACC 3rd Team performer. A few things to focus on going into this season are his Assist to Turnover Ratio (2.4) and Player Efficiency Rating (12.21, Per Min of Production 0.40), which can both improve. 2017-2018 Stats/Analytics PER: 12.21 Per Min of Production: 0.40 Points Per Possession: 0.92 True Shooting Percentage: 54% Assist/TO: 2.4
